Wills, Trusts and Probate Solicitor

We are a rapidly expanding firm based in the North and West Yorkshire areas.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Wills, Trusts and Probate solicitor to take over an existing caseload but, primarily, to grow the department.
The successful candidate will likely be based either in our Stokesley or Leeds office and will have something in the region of 5-6 years PQE, be able to work
without supervision and will have had experience of the full range of private client cases. Experience of contentious probate matters would be a distinct advantage, given that the firm currently enjoys a steady stream of that work from private clients and insurers.

Employment Law Solicitor

Taylor Law has a fantastic opportunity for an Employment Law Solicitor to join a busy and rapidly expanding Law Firm. At Taylor Law we take pride in our
reputation for professionalism and client care and of our relationship with the Police Federation of England and Wales.

We currently represent a number with ongoing complex litigation involving a wide variety of cases including Discrimination, Sexual Discrimination, Human Rights and Whistle Blowing.

You will join a developing but rapidly expanding firm. The successful candidate will assist and head a number of ongoing cases as well as building their own
caseload.

The successful applicant must;

  •  Be a fully qualified Solicitor or FCILEx or with equivalent experience.
  •  Have at least 3 years in Employment Law with Litigation experience.
  •  Have the ambition and desire to build their own caseload including forging relationships with local businesses to provide legal services.
  •  Be able to continue to develop our relationship with the Police Federationof England and Wales.
  •  Have excellent client care and inter-personal skills, operating withintegrity and showing empathy and intuition.
  •  Have a good knowledge of Case Management Systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  •  Advising clients on potential Employment claims.
  •  Attending Employment Tribunals.
  •  Running a case load of Employment Tribunal claims, including drafting pleadings, drafting witness statements, negotiating settlements, advising on settlement agreements and instructing counsel or advocates as necessary.
  •  Developing ties with local businesses.

Skills/Competencies required:

  •  Be able to operate independently and as part of a team to deliver the best outcomes for our clients.
  •  The ability to run a caseload with excellent attention to detail.
  •  Effective time management skills.
  •  Excellent communication skills.
  •  The ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • The ability to work under pressure, prioritise and work to strict deadlines
  • Knowledge of Police Misconduct would be an advantage.

Criminal Solicitor
Due to a period of rapid expansion, an exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a Criminal Solicitor with a minimum of 3 years qualification.
Joining the practice’s nationally recognised team, the successful candidate will work closely with the senior members of the department and run a busy case
load of criminal and professional discipline matters, predominantly on behalf of serving police officers.

Responsibilities:

  •  Working on a varied case load
  •  File management
  •  Preparing client letters
  •  Drafting statements
  •  Instructing counsel and experts
  •  Liaising with clients and Police Federation branches in person and over the telephone
  •  Attending hearings with counsel
  •  Local advocacy
  •  Achieve set financial and chargeable targets

The Candidate:

  •  Demonstrates excellent communication skills and is able to explain complex matters in clear, accessible language
  •  Works well as part of a team as well as on their own initiative
  •  Is highly organised, able to work well when under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  •  Is personable, professional and client-focused
  •  Recognises the needs of private paying clients

Applications are especially welcomed from Solicitors with Professional Discipline experience. This is desirable but not essential.

Legal Secretary

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Legal Secretary to join our growing business, based in our Stokesley Office.

Your Role:

The prime role of a legal secretary is to provide cost effective support to fee earners within the team and work of the department. To exercise high
standards of client care at all times in a professional and pleasant manner. To ensure confidentiality and security of all the firm’s and client documentation
and information. To maintain clear and precise communication with other personnel within the firm. To ensure good working relationships with external
institutions and organisations. To undertake any reasonable task as requested.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Typing documents, emails and file notes, etc for the fee earner’s
  •  Setting up new appointments, answering telephone, speaking to clients, solicitors and other parties, and dealing with all visitors to the office.
  • Attending staff meetings
  •  Liaising with other members of the admin team and all staff within the firm
  •  Digital dictation (BigHand)
  •  Ensuring files are fully time recorded for billing
  •  Assisting all fee earners and departments
  •  Providing cover when necessary
  • Initial point of contact, take new enquiry calls, book appointments, diary management.
  •  Open and close files.
  •  Scan in daily post and general filing and administration.
  •  Drafting generic letters (Client Care Letters, initial letters to banks etc advising of deaths).
  •  Collating report information and actioning the same with fee earners

Person specification – key skills/qualifications required:

  • The ideal candidate will need previous experience of working within the legal sector
  •  Excellent telephone manner, typing skills and use of digital dictation
  •  Highly motivated
  •  Highly organised
  •  Able to prioritise workloads of different fee earners.
  • Willingness to take on new tasks
  •  Good organisational skills
