Taylor Law is one of the country’s leading authorities in the field of police ill-health retirement, injury on duty pension awards and related regulatory areas such as Regulation 28 and Unsatisfactory Attendance and Performance Regulations.

We are recognised nationally for our work for the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW).

Our team have successfully advised clients through the medical appeals process to the Police Medical Appeal Boards, where our solicitors also undertake the advocacy, relevant medical appeals to the crown court under Regulation H5 and judicial review applications.

The team has represented claimants through to the Court of Appeal on test cases of national importance regarding police pensions, state benefits and taxation resulting in the change of the law.

Taylor Law is not frightened of taking on large and complex cases. Our solicitors successfully orchestrated a large group action on behalf of 80 claimants in a case concerning Regulation 37 pension reviews following the Court of Appeal decision in Laws (whom one of our solicitors had represented) resulting in the restoration of injury awards for all former Metropolitan police injury pensioner claimants to their previous levels resulting in payments totaling approximately £4Million in back pension and interest for the prescribed periods.

The team have been consulted about advising 3000 police officers working for the British Transport Police (BTP) regarding the implications for their pension entitlements following their transfers from other Police Services.

Taylor Law is also involved in cases concerning the implications for police officers’ pensions following the successful Fire Fighters’ cases, where the Court of Appeal in December 2018 determined that the changes to their pension scheme in 2015 following the Public Service Pensions Act 2013 constituted age discrimination.
