Wills & Probate Law
Your Will is vital. You have worked hard throughout your life and you do not wish to see your assets eroded by tax or distributed against your wishes. If you do not make a Will, the law dictates who deals with or receive your assets. Your estate may not be in a position to take advantage of tax exemptions
and your assets may pay your tax liability. There may be persons to whom you don't wish to leave your estate or those that you may not wish to inherit immediately. A properly drafted Will allows you to choose, during your lifetime, who you wish to leave gifts, money and your assets to on your death.
With a simple and clear Will your tax liabilities can be managed now, not when you die.
A Will is an expression of your wishes and upon your death it becomes a legally enforceable document. It gives you the peace of mind to know that your loved ones will be provided for after your death.
If you have children, a Will allows you to appoint suitable Guardians to young children. Only you know which relatives or friends would love and care for your children if you are parted from them. If you do not have a Will, a Court will decide who is appointed to look after them. These may not be the persons you would wish for or who are best suited to love, care for and guide your young children.
A Will can be drafted to take account of a multitude of personal circumstances. The intestacy provisions of the law may not do this. Your Will is as flexible as your life and should always be updated as your personal circumstances change.
We recognise that you may be too busy to fill in a form or to make an appointment. With this in mind we run a monthly 'Wills Surgery'. On the first Tuesday of each month we will make ourselves available and you can simply walk in to our office without the need for an appointment. We will give you up to 20 minutes free advice, provide you with a copy of our Wills leaflet and administer tea and coffee. We will take your details and if you instruct us to proceed with your Will we will apply a 15% discount.
